The Ocean Angel II

Del Mar Seafood's Inc. is a vertically integrated fishing / processing company established by Santo Cappuccio over 40 years ago.  Santo, immigrated to Monterey California from Siracusa Sicily in 1946, where he then worked on the family fishing boat trawling the Monterey Bay for flatfish with his father Joe.
Some years later in 1962, he saw the possible future of California Squid or "Calamari" as a popular food dish. He then left fishing, and started processing and freezing the then, unexplored and un marketed Monterey Bay Squid.

Santo was one of the founding fathers of today's modern fishing industry, innovating processing and marketing techniques which are still the industry standards of today. Thank's to great men like Santo, Calamari is a popular dish that is readily available to all.

In 1988 Santo's son Joe assumed the presidency of Del Mar Seafood's and proudly maintains the family legacy passed to him from his father and grandfather. 

Joe Roggio, Santo's nephew, is Del Mar's CFO and general manager of the Watsonville California facility and also serves the family legacy.

The Ocean Angel ll at the mouth of the Columbia River in Oregon,
in a set of over 100 ton's of sardines. The fish, once captured, are
then pumped live from the net into the (R S W ) fish holding tanks of the vessel.
